RACHEL RESTS

Somehow, she looks pensive. Those with an overactive imagination might think she was pondering her future, perhaps. Alexander the Great, it was said, sat down and wept when there were no more worlds to conquer. But Rachel Alexandra the Great has the world at her feet! Along the bottom of the photo you can make out the pink carnations that adorned her Woodward winner's blanket. And check out the new desktop wallpaper from the Woodward on this site – a reminder of how the grandstand was literally shaking from start to finish -- and beyond.

  3. I was wondering the same thing. Her fans want to know everything is ok! Honestly the mystery is a little worrying. I live in saratoga and would just like to know if she ok and if she is enjoying her morning gallops. I would also like to know how long she will be at the Oklahoma and where she is headed next? Any info would be helpful.

  4. I recall the trainer saying he would take Rachel out the following Wednesday after the Woodward just to exercise her a bit, and normally, we'd see a video and read a summary, but I've seen nothing. I know if she set foot on the track, there would be fans and cameras there, and some reporter would do a write-up, so we need clarification. I was worried about Rachel running in all three races against the boys, so I sure hope they didn't push her too far this time!!

  6. Hey JJ and SA, get rid of that stupid contraption on RA's nose. Don't allow Borel(if he stays on her) to whip her. Haven't you all noticed she runs slower after he whipped the hell out of her in the Woodward!! RA was a super filly, and you all almost killed her in the Woodward! Why couldn't you have been more patient. Why would it have killed you to wait until she was older to grab that HOY award!!!! I feel so sorry for Rachel!!!!

  7. Booorail needs to cool his whiphand. Rachel knows what to do on her own.

In fact I think all whips should be banned.

Its too bad the racing industry has gone so greedy, horses at 2 years of age are put through grueling training programs and such.
Most race horses today are finished by age 3.
Burned out and physically wrecked. Breeders, owners, trainers have made the industry into a sweatshop for horses.
There are some who are very responsible and caring but they are the minority.

For all the horses that have given their all with little respect...bless you.
